Huangpu district and the Guangzhou Development District are becoming incubators of potential industrial leaders.
“‘Small and medium-sized enterprises can carry out big projects' has become our company’s motto, which encourages us to adhere to innovation and to grow bigger and stronger," said Ricky Yao Weibing, President of Guangzhou Mino Automotive Equipment Co.
Located in Guangzhou’s Huangpu district and the Guangzhou Development District, Mino is a major auto equipment company in South China's Guangdong province.
It is committed to developing into a global leader in reforming digital manufacturing and has realized its transformation from a manufacturer to a creator in the manufacturing sector.
The company’s production lines can be shifted between seven different auto models in eight seconds. It has set up a branch in Germany, competing with the world’s top players in the industry.
Mino is one of the representative small and medium-sized enterprises in Huangpu and the GDD. The district is home to more than 20,000 such private SMEs. More than 80 percent of the district’s industrial enterprises above designated size and 80 percent of the district’s high-tech companies are private SMEs.
Over 80 percent of the authorized invention patents, technological innovation achievements and new products come from these enterprises.
Hexin Mass Spectrometry Co is another representative SME in the district. The instruments it has developed independently have been applied in 18 provincial-level regions and exported overseas in the fields of environmental monitoring, medical and health care and food safety.
The Hexin employees’ greatest pride and satisfaction comes from their ability to conduct independent research and development on core technologies, according to Zhou Zhen, chairman of Hexin Instrument Co.
Zhou recalled the tough days ten years ago when there was only one sample machine.
The company has built a complete technological innovation chain covering mass spectrometry R & D, production, testing, after-sales service, quality control and application development over the past decade.
In addition to Mino and Hexin, a group of potential industrial leaders have emerged in the district, such as KingMed Diagnostics and MIPO Science & Technology Co.
Their rise can be attributed to the efforts made by the district in improving its business environment in recent years.
A group of preferential policies rolled out by the local government have benefited more than 3,800 enterprises in the district.
Huangpu and the GDD have launched funds to support the enterprises with financing difficulties. They have also taken a raft of innovative measures to streamline administrative service procedures and make reviews and approvals more efficient and convenient.
