“The heyday of the blockchain industry is coming," Ren Hao said, underscored the important role of blockchain technology in the new round of technological innovation and industrial transformation, urging more efforts to quicken development in the sector.
The Guangzhou Blockchain Industry Association, which has Ren Hao as its secretary general, has been settled in Guangzhou’s Huangpu district and the Guangzhou Development District for more than two years.
The district has witnessed the province’s first preferential policies supporting the development of the blockchain sector, and the first blockchain E-invoice platform in China as well as the country’s first business license issued on a blockchain plus AI platform.
It plans to grow into an international innovation center for the blockchain industry and become a demonstration software cluster featuring blockchain technology.
It has been named the first and only blockchain-oriented software town by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
There are about 300 blockchain enterprises in the district, the majority of those in the city. They cover the fields of government affairs, people’s livelihoods and manufacturing.
Zhou Rongyi, co-founder of Guangzhou Blackcore Blockchain Technology Co, said the preferential policies offered by the Huangpu district government have more remarkable effect in supporting the industry than those of Beijing or Shanghai, since they are driven by capital.
The company was founded in Huangpu in April 2018 and reported business revenue of 33 million yuan ($4.67 million) last year. This month, it received a 1 million yuan award from the district.
According to local authorities, an upgraded version of guideline on blockchain development will be released to support basic research on core technologies.
A group of examples that use blockchain technology to improve the business environment have emerged. They helped the district streamline administrative procedures and improve public services.
Efforts were also made to promote integration of blockchains with the real economy. Six such demonstration projects, ranging from manufacturing to medical care, have been launched in the district.
In order to promote the industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, a blockchain alliance was initiated the University of Macao and by the blockchain associations of Guangzhou and Hong Kong in November 2018.
More than 50 key players in the sector have joined it and Huangpu was designated its headquarters.
The alliance announced a plan to foster unicorn enterprises in the industry at a meeting that same month, aiming to make technological breakthroughs in the Greater Bay Area through cooperation in talent, supply, information and capital.
