Key interchange bridge in Huangpu starts trial run

The interchange bridge of Jiulong Road and Guangzhou-Shantou National Highway in the district of Huangpu in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong province, opened to the public in trial ahead of 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China.

The project with a span of 1.5 kilometers has had an accumulative investment of 335.83 million yuan ($47.16 million). The speed of its main road is limited to 60 km per hour, while that of its side road is 40 km per hour.

Situated at the area of Zhenlong, it links the central place of Huangpu and the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC).

Constructors have fought against all odds since they arrived and embarked their work at the site in 2013. The project's tunnels officially to the public in this July.

The main structure of the interchange bridge along Guangzhou-Shantou National Highway has already been completed, with the rest part under intensive building and started trial run prior to the founding anniversary on Oct 1.

The interchange bridge is crucial to further improving the transportation conditions in the southern section of the SSGKC.

It will greatly shorten the time for vehicles to pass through relevant traffic lights, relieve traffic jams at the traffic junction between Jiulong Road and Guangzhou-Shantou National Highway, strengthen the ties between the SSGKC and neighboring areas, and spur economic and social development of Huangpu.
