The 2019 China-Singapore Knowledge Forum: Win-Win Collaboration in Intellectual Property in the New Trade Environment opened in Singapore on Aug 26.
The event was co-organized by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC), which was jointly launched by south China's Guangdong province and Singapore in Guangzhou to serve as a strategic development platform and a model for economic transformation and industrial upgrading in June 2010.
During the forum, officials from the IPOS and Guangzhou jointly inaugurated the China-Singapore International Knowledge IP Innovation Service Center, which is an important component of the memorandum of understanding signed by the SSGKC, the IPOS and Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment & Development Group in September 2018.
The service center will facilitate the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and deepen the collaboration between China and Singapore in terms of intellectual property creation, laws, information, commercialization, counseling and training.
Professionals and scholars from both countries at the gathering also held thematic discussions on business models and legal regulations for patent operations in the context of global trade.
The forum was convened amid the 2019 Singapore's IP Week, the theme of which was "From Thoughts to Assets: Intellectual Property Propels Entrepreneurial Growth."
The annual Singapore's IP Week has grown into a key platform for professionals, legal specialists and entrepreneurs from across the world to exchange ideas and engage in cooperation in the field of intellectual property against the background of the Belt and Road Initiative.
