Local government in the district of Huangpu in Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong province, officially unveiled its regulatory plan for the building of the International Biomedicine Value Innovation Park in Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC) on Aug 20.
The SSGKC was jointly launched by Guangdong and Singapore in Guangzhou to serve as a strategic development platform and a model for economic transformation and industrial upgrading in June 2010.
According to the plan, the International Biomedicine Value Innovation Park will be located in the northern part of the SSGKC and is set to become a world-leading bio-pharmacy industry cluster.
The park will cover an area of 7.98 square kilometers. It will be connected with rail transportation and have convenient access to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Thirty thousand people will call it home and it will create employment opportunities for 63,000 people.
Construction of the International Biomedicine Innovation Services Center began in early March. It is designed to be a comprehensive industrial park for academic exchanges for bio-pharmacy, research and incubation, and office work.
The innovation park will also make great efforts to meet the public's demand for leisure activities, health care, medical services, kindergartens and schools.
