A new gathering of high-tech resources in Guangzhou

Guangzhou Regenerative Medicine and Health Guangdong Laboratory

As one of the first four provincial laboratories approved by the Guangdong provincial government, the lab aims to become a national laboratory. The lab’s first president of the academic board is Pei Gang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and former president of Tongji University. The other twelve academician board members include Wang Xiaofan, a foreign academician.

The lab targets frontier research of stem cell and regenerative medicine theory and technology and intends to become a high-level frontier research base for regenerative medicine and health, a clinical application base, an achievement transformation and industrialization base, and a high-level talent base.

Guangdong Communications & Networks Institute

Targeting international frontier areas and bottlenecks in China's network communication industry, the institute creatively proposes technical standards for 6G, and will create a revolutionary next-generation communication network based on independent research and development of core chips and software.

The South China Center for Innovative Pharmaceuticals

The center is one of the three major innovative projects in the“Outline of the reform and development plan of the Pearl River Delta region (2008-2020)” approved by the State Council of China. It is included in the national new drug creation system and is the only private non-enterprise institution in science and technology that provides professional services for new drug innovation and creation in South China.

Guangdong Hi-1 New Materials Research Institute

The institute, Chen Jing and five other academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering jointly established a thermal control work station, which has achieved international leadership in general thermal management and cross-industry engineering application technology of special industry thermal control.

Guangdong GBA Cooperative Innovation Research Institute

The institute adopts an initiative system in China that is “research lab-cooperative innovation center-funds” integrated. The institute and strategic scientists from world-class universities such as Stanford University, Northwest University and the University of Hong Kong jointly carry out world leading research on high-tech.

Their research achievements will be transformed in the nearby Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, forming a collaborative innovation chain of “government-enterprise-education-scientific research-finance-intermediary service” and creating a highway for research achievements’ application.

Research Institute of Tsinghua, Pearl River Delta

As the only provincial institution jointly sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Government and Tsinghua University, the institute has adopted an “incubation plus investment” mode, which has become the most vigorous model for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in cooperation between a university and local government in China.

Huanan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Zhejiang University

The institute is Zhejiang University’s only scientific innovation and industrialization base launched by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the university.

Sino-Singapore International Joint Research Institute

The Sino-Singapore International Joint Research Institute was built by Singapore's Nanyang Technological University in partnership with the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC) Administrative Committee, SSGKC Investment and Development Co, and South China University of Technology. 

It is a major platform promoting the industrialization of scientific and technological cooperation projects between the two countries in the Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

The four-party agreement founding the institute was inked by China and Singapore.

South China Institute of Biomedicine

The institute is a civil-military integration science and technology platform jointly established by the Guangzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone and the Academy of Military Medical Sciences. The top team in stem cell research from the Academy of Military Medical Sciences will be brought in to build the South China stem cell and regenerative medicine research center.

Following that, the institute will further bring in the military's superior resources for medical research to build a South China bio-safety center and military medical research and security center.

China (Guangzhou) Intelligent Equipment Research Institute

Initiated by the Fifth Electronic Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China (Guangzhou) Intelligent Equipment Research Institute is a national public service authority integrating R&D, design, testing and industrial incubation and focusing on the entire robot and intelligent equipment industry chain.
