Guangzhou's Huangpu district will build an international cruise hub and contribute to the city's plan to develop two cruise hubs with the complementary advantages of a large international cruise port in Nansha district.

Early in the Qin and Han dynasties (221 BC-AD 220), dating back more than 2,000 years ago, Huangpu was an important port for China's foreign trade and one of the cradles of the Maritime Silk Road.

At this year's World Ports Conference, which opened on May 8, Huangpu announced its blueprint for developing emerging industries such as a headquarters economy, shipping services, modern finance, e-commerce, scientific innovation and culture.

It also plans to turn the 10-kilometer "golden coast" on the east of the Pearl River into a world-class waterfront for new trade.

The Huangpu Port economic zone covers an area of 42 square kilometers with a coastline stretching 54.8 km. The second Central Business District, with the international financial city and the Huangpu Port economic zone as its core, has a planned area of 13.4 sq km and will have floorage of 2.16 million sq m. It is positioned as a global innovation port city.
