The first phase of the station has a daily production capacity of 500 kilograms, which can fill 120 eight-ton logistics trucks or 50 buses every day. The second phase will build a 70 MPA hydrogen filling system and have a daily production capacity of1,000 kg upon completion.
Zhong Shengguang, executive deputy general manager of Lianxin Energy Development Co, the constructor of the station, said it is the first hydrogen filling station using hydrogen storage tank equipment in the country and its filling of a vehicle takes about three to five minutes, roughly the same as that of gasoline tanks.
Hydrogen energy is the most potential clean energy in the 21st century. It boasts high energy density, zero emissions, high efficiency, wide sources and renewability. Compared with traditional vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles enjoy the advantages of being pollution and noise free, and having no need for transmission components.
Compared with electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have the advantages of long range, small battery attenuation and high filling efficiency.
There are about 45 hydrogen stations under construction or completed across the country, Zhong said, adding that the number will reach 300 by 2025.
Guangzhou Development Zone in Huangpu, where the station is located, is the first area to develop the hydrogen energy industry and boasts the fastest development in Guangzhou. Huangpu district plans five more stations and a group of commercial fuel cell vehicle operation demonstration projects will be put into use by 2020.
Huangpu district is speeding up the development of hydrogen energy utilization and industrialization. With capital, technology and projects gathering in the district, the goal of another five new hydrogen stations is expected to be realized this year.
