Huangpu district and Guangzhou Development Zone recently published the 2018 report card on the lives of the general public, which shows remarkable breakthroughs in education, medical treatment, and transportation.
Education
In recent years, Huangpu has witnessed an increase in population and a large influx of young people. The issue of education has become the focus of attention. In 2018, Huangpu worked to ensure compulsory education for new students placing more than 10,000 and completing 143 percent of its education-based tasks.
In the past year, new schools such as Guangzhou Kaiyuan School have opened in Huangpu. Among them, a total of six projects - Kowloon No.3 Primary School, Yonghe No. 1 Kindergarten, Junde Campus of Xingang Primary School, the maintenance and renovation project of Liyuan Primary School Campus, Kecheng Middle School and Yushu Primary School - were completed.
In 2019 the district will further promote cooperative and group-run schools, start construction of middle and primary schools for the Whampoa Military Academy, and foster a high-level team of teachers.
Medical treatment
In 2018, a number of new hospitals were built in Huangpu; others were rebuilt and expanded.
For example, about 59,768 square meters of land have been allocated for the first phase of the Women's and Children's Affiliate Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University.
The project plans to build a 3A hospital for women and children, the first phase of which will involve 500 beds and cover an area of 57,000 square meters. It is expected that the main project will be completed in 2019 and the rest will be completed in 2020.
Transportation
Binhe Road, Zhicheng Avenue, Dongjiang Avenue, Baoying Avenue and Kaifa Avenue in the district have all been handed over. Upgrading and transformation of roads and greening in Yonghe and Eastern areas have been partially completed.
As for the progress of tram construction, Line 1 (Changling Ju-Luogang) is currently under construction, and the public bidding announcement for the Line 2 (Xiangxue-Nangang) project has been posted online.
