The two State Natural Science Awards go to projects led by Pei Duanqing, a researcher at the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, and Liu Yaoguang, academician of South China Agricultural University. Both projects are in biology, showing that Guangdong province has made outstanding progress in the field of applied basic research in that area.
A project led by Li Xiaosen, a researcher at the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, took second prize in the seven State Technology Innovation Awards. The project provides important technical support for the strategic deployment of natural gas hydrate development in China.
