Guangzhou Daily: 235 companies gather to compete for the national crown

Guangzhou hosts biomedical finals of China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

On November 15th the biomedical industry final of the 7th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held in Guangzhou, with 235 companies from all over the country competing for the national crown.

The China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the Office of Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. Since its launch in 2012, the biomedical division of the competition has been held seven times, and spotlighted a number of companies. This is the first time that the event has been held in Guangzhou, and it’s likely to help Guangzhou become a platform for all parties to exchange and develop resources.

The biomedical enterprises attending this year's final all have great strength. Of the more than 30,000 competitors in the entire national contest, 3,667 were biomedical enterprises. After local preliminary competitions, quarter-finals and finals, 235 outstanding enterprises reached the national final. Most of them come from Yunnan, Shanghai, Guangdong and Jiangsu.

The competition events of the final include innovative equipment, precision medicine, genetic testing, new drug research and development, regenerative medicine, medical equipment, in vitro diagnostics, and Internet + medical technology. First, second and third prizes in the biomedical field will be awarded.

Eight companies in Huangpu District and Guangzhou Development District are among the national finalists, and have targeted novel medical research and development. For example, some focus on tumor screening and diagnostic products such as non-invasive screening kits for colorectal cancer; others are dedicated to the prevention and treatment of heavy metal poisoning.

Guangzhou, with a deep biomedical industry foundation, will surely bring new opportunities to outstanding enterprises from all over the country. On the 12th, Xiangxue Pharmaceutical Company, Baiyunshan Zhongyi Pharmaceutical Company, KingMed Diagnotics Group, and Biological Island Exhibition Hall introduced Guangzhou's technological innovation results and innovation and entrepreneurial environment in biomedicine to the representatives of participating companies. And, at the large enterprise communication meeting, Meinian Onehealth Healthcare Company, Xiangxue Pharmaceutical Company, Daan Gene Company, Wondfo Biotech Company, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited and Improve Medical Instruments Company exchanged resources with them.
