Bama named top autumn viewing destination in China
Bama Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi, has been selected as one of China's suitable autumn viewing areas in the 2026 National Autumn Viewing Guide released by the China Meteorological Administration.
The guide, released during the 2026 National Day culture and tourism consumption month, provides more personalized meteorological services for the public. It recommends more than 20 cities and counties across 19 provincial-level regions, based on a comprehensive analysis of temperature, cold air activity from late Sept to mid-Nov, the national autumn process and local ecological conditions. Bama's best viewing period is set to run from mid-Oct to mid-Nov.
Bama has a subtropical monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 18.8 to 20.4 degrees Celsius and forest coverage of over 78 percent. Negative oxygen ion levels in the air range from 20,000 to 50,000 per cubic centimeter, giving the county a fresh and comfortable environment. Known as a world longevity town, Bama is home to national 4A-level scenic spots such as Bainiaoyan, Crystal Palace and Baimo Cave and its health and wellness industry is developing rapidly.
The county has been named China's best health and leisure tourism county and a national pilot zone for tourism reform and innovation, adding to its appeal as an autumn destination.
Meteorological authorities reminded the public that autumn temperatures fluctuate widely and day-night temperature differences are significant. Visitors should check weather forecasts in advance, prepare warm clothing, plan routes reasonably and pay attention to forecast and warning information to ensure travel safety.
