Fencing event in Huanjiang showcases youth vitality, cultural power

The Guangxi Youth Fencing Championship and the 16th Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Games Qualifier kicked off at the Huazhumao Sports Center in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi city on Aug 22.

This high-level youth fencing event gathered 231 young athletes from 13 cities across the region, serving as a crucial platform for the upcoming regional games.

The opening ceremony was vibrant, blending local ethnic culture with youthful sports energy. Performances included Maonan heritage opera, trendy street dance, and unique children's dances, showing the cultural charm of the Maonan people and creating a lively and distinctive atmosphere.

Huanjiang, the only Maonan autonomous county in China, boasts a rich cultural heritage and a strong commitment to integrating sports with education and tourism. The county has consistently hosted high-standard sports events, fostering a professional and efficient hosting experience.

During the event, the 4A-rated Niujiaozhai Waterfall Scenic Area offered free tickets to athletes, while a Maonan cultural exhibition was set up at the venue. This innovative "sports + culture + tourism" model effectively attracted visitors, enhanced cultural appreciation and boosted tourism, further promoting the local tourism brand.

The event highlighted the elegance and competitive spirit of fencing, showcasing the determination and vigor of Guangxi's youth. Huanjiang aims to continue promoting sports like fencing, enriching people's cultural and sports life, and driving regional development.
