Hechi doctor brings traditional healing to Africa

Wang Xiyi, a highly esteemed practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine who hails from Hechi, has for many years committed himself to providing medical care while carrying the torch for TCM inheritance.

However, what separates him from his peers is that he offers his expertise not only locally in his community but also much further afield in the volcanic archipelago of Comoros that sits off the east coast of Africa.

Wang runs the Wang Xiyi Hechi Famous TCM Inheritance Studio on the 4th floor of The First People's Hospital of Hechi in Yizhou district. He integrates the precise biomechanical analysis of American chiropractic medicine with TCM's holistic syndrome differentiation, in the process forging a unique therapeutic approach.

His innovative method combines modern equipment like electric chiropractic beds with TCM techniques such as acupuncture, tuina and bone-setting. This effectively addresses a barrage of ailments including chronic pain, stroke sequelae, insomnia and other conditions.

In November 2016, Wang joined China's 11th medical aid team to Comoros. Working in poorly equipped hospitals on Grande Comore Island, he treated over 1,000 local patients with acupuncture and tuina, while providing healthcare for Chinese embassy staff and Chinese-funded institution personnel, earning wide trust.

Back in Hechi, he launched evening clinics for workers and students, participated in grassroots TCM clinic evaluations, and delivered health lectures and screenings in schools and military camps. A disciple of renowned TCM masters, he also devotes himself to passing down TCM and Zhuang medicine skills to younger generations.
