Yellow wax plum, known as the "Queen of Plums," recently reached maturity, leading to a boom in sales at the main production areas in Nandan county.

Yellow wax plums have been planted in Nandan for a thousand years. They were once given as tribute to the imperial court during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), renowned for their large, full, and even shape, bright color, crisp texture, and sweet taste.

Yellow wax plums are a traditional local specialty of Nandan and a superior variety of plums nurtured and developed in the area's unique ecological environment. Yellow wax plum is also a typical representative of Nandan's characteristic fruits, renowned for their vibrant appearance, unique flavor, and popular taste both locally and beyond.

In Lianhua village in Guanzhen town, golden yellow wax plums hang from branches in front of houses and along roadsides, swaying in the breeze. In October 2021, Lianhua village's yellow wax plums were recognized among the eleventh batch of national "One Village, One Product" demonstration villages.

Currently, yellow wax plums are distributed in most townships in Nandan, including Luofu, Chengguan, Wuai, and Bawei, with Luofu and Chengguan having the largest distribution and production scale.

In 2023, Nandan county produced 6,500 metric tons of yellow wax plums, achieving a production value of 10 million yuan ($1.4 million); it is estimated that in 2024, the production will reach 7,000 tons, with a production value of up to 12 million yuan.
