On May 18, Nandan county held the 2024 Baogu plum brand promotion and orchard-picking event in Lianhua village, Chengguan town. Fruit farmers from various towns gathered to exhibit and sell their plums, competing for the prestigious "King of the Plum" award and celebrating the orchard-picking with songs and dances.

The competition attracted 65 fruit farmers from towns like Luofu, Yueli, and Chengguan to participate in the "challenge match." After an initial round of selection, 24 farmers with high-quality plums advanced to the finals, with 100 plum entries evaluated based on their weight, soluble solids content, fruit shape, uniformity, color, and taste.

During the event, a fun eating competition took place, with participants ranging from 16 to 57 years old. The organizers selected 20 plums and timed groups of 10 people to see who could finish eating them the fastest.

Currently, Nandan has around 1.85 million mu (1,233 hectares) of plum orchards, producing approximately 13,000 metric tons annually. These orchards are mainly located in towns like Chengguan, Luofu, and Yueli, representing a plum variety with distinct regional characteristics.
