Hechi's population urbanization rate reaches 46.6%
According to the assessment results of the 2022 national population sampling survey, the urbanization rate of Hechi's permanent population has reached 46.6 percent, marking a year-on-year increase of 0.69 percentage points.
This growth outperforms the national and regional averages by 0.19 and 0.12 percentage points, respectively, demonstrating the city's steady improvement in urbanization levels.
At the end of 2022, the city's permanent population stood at 3.41 million, representing a decrease of 9,500 individuals compared to the previous year. This showcased a downward trend for the second consecutive year.
Among Hechi's counties and districts, only Jinchengjiang, Yizhou, and Bama saw an increase in their permanent population compared to the previous year. The remaining eight counties of the city witnessed a decline.
The city's permanent urban population continues to grow steadily, leading to an increase in the urbanization rate. In 2022, the city's permanent urban population reached 1.59 million, accounting for 46.6 percent of the city's overall permanent population, with an increase of 0.69 percentage points compared to the previous year.
Hechi's increase in urban population is primarily influenced by the flow of its rural inhabitants, with a net inflow of 25,800 individuals from rural to urban areas in 2022, contributing to a 0.76 percentage point increase in the urbanization rate. The permanent rural population stood at 1.82 million, experiencing a decrease of 28,600 individuals compared to the previous year.
