Wondrous Hechi, an investment hot spot
Hechi is located in the northwestern part of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the southern foothills of the Yungui Plateau. It has jurisdiction over nine counties and two districts, with a total area of 33,500 square kilometers and a total population of 4.33 million.
Benefiting from the major strategies and opening-up platforms of the central government and the autonomous region, Hechi has made large investments in infrastructure and achieved great innovation in its industrial development.
The city received a total of 45.06 million tourists both from home and abroad in 2019, an increase of 31.66 percent from the previous year, and had a total tourism consumption of 55.29 billion yuan ($7.87 billion), up 34.53 percent year-on-year.
As an important node city of the Belt and Road and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in western China, Hechi has continued to improve its transportation system, including highways, airports, and water transportation. It also has a great ecological environment with its forest coverage rate reaching 71.02 percent and the rate of good air quality of its urban area reaching 97.8 percent, ranking first in Guangxi.
The city focuses on investment and cooperation in the 200 billion yuan scale industries of non-ferrous metal new materials and silkworm cocoons silk, as well as the 10 billion yuan scale industries of wine and drinking water, biomedicine and the chemicals industry, forest products processing, as well as electronic information.
Hechi possesses five main city-level industrial parks. Urban Industrial Park focuses on building industrial clusters of non-ferrous metals deep processing and biomedicine, while Guangxi Yizhou Economic and Development Zone focuses on the development of the circular economy of the silkworm cocoon and silk industry, the biomass and chemicals industry, as well as sugarcane comprehensive utilization.
Nandan Nonferrous Metals Industrial Park has been built into a park with new industrial characteristics featuring non-ferrous metals, chemicals, building materials, and new materials industries. Huanjiang Industrial Park has set up areas for migrant workers' entrepreneurship, forestry, electronic technology, warehousing and logistics, as well as new energy. Du'an Lin'gang Industrial Park is committed to creating a new building materials industry cluster.
Other key investment areas of Hechi include Yizhou New District, a new administrative center of Hechi under planning and construction with a planned area of 131 sq m that covers administrative offices, commercial businesses, education and scientific research, ecological residences, as well as conference and exhibition functions. It also includes Hechi Shenzhen-Bama Big Health Cooperative Special Pilot Zone, a pilot area established by Guangdong and Guangxi to promote the development of the healthcare industry.
