Hechi becomes demonstration city of woody oil plant industry
Hechi city received the title of "Demonstration city of Woody Oil Plant in China" at the branch meeting of a conference held by the Chinese Forestry Industry Association on April 11, one of six cities (counties) so honored.
The conference was held in Tiandong county, Baise city, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. More than 250 people attended the conference including leaders of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Department of Forestry of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and experts and industrialists.
The conference announced the results and held an awards ceremony. Qi Lian, member of the standing committee of the Hechi municipal Party committee and deputy mayor, made a speech at the conference about how the woody oil plant industry in Hechi helps with poverty alleviation.

According to Qi, Hechi city has made continuous efforts to strengthen its woody oil plant industry over recent years. It has made the woody oil plant industry (producing products like tea-oil, walnuts and chestnuts) the "characteristic industry" of Hechi that alleviates poverty. Through optimizing its structure and improving product quality, the woody oil plant industry is developing rapidly in Hechi.
By the end of 2017, there were 1,060,000 mu (70,677 hectares) of tea-oil trees, 800,000 mu of chestnuts and a demonstration base of walnuts covering an area of 337,000 mu.
