Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi city is looking to spur development through high-quality brain gain.
The plan was announced on Feb 12 at a press conference in Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, soliciting support for the Huanjiang's social and economic development.
He Huaiyang, deputy secretary of the Huanjiang county Party committee, described the situation, saying that skilled workers with expertise in economics, law, and environmental sciences are urgently needed.
Huanjiang is a relatively undeveloped area lacking in quality infrastructure and a strong economic base. By attracting new talent, fostering a productive business environment, and enacting structural reform, the local government hopes to bridge the gap between Huanjiang and more developed areas, according to Wei Fan, head of the county's organization department.
"Most skilled workers choose to settle in big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. We need to figure out how to deal with the ever-shrinking talent pool in our city", Wei said at the conference.
Talents will be brought to the area through employment and job transfer, the meeting suggested. Incentives such as accommodation, living allowances and medical insurance will be provided.
Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county is rich in natural resources and home to the Karst world natural heritage site as well as two national nature reserves.
