Xuwen: a gateway for connecting and serving Hainan
Xuwen county, Zhanjiang, Guangdong province is located at the southernmost tip of the Chinese mainland and faces Hainan province across the sea. Xuwen and Hainan are on the north and south banks of the Qiongzhou Strait, an important strategic transportation channel for the country.
With Zhanjiang's goal of accelerating the construction of a provincial sub-center city and build an important development hub of the modern coastal economic belt, Xuwen has taken actions to contribute to these efforts.
Transportation development
Xuwen possesses China's largest car ferry port and Asia's largest railway ferry terminal. Nearly 15 million passengers and more than 3 million vehicles pass through each year. In 2018, the port throughput was 153 million tons, accounting for 50.6 percent of the city's total, with container throughput of 9,116 TEUs.

The county attaches great importance to clean energy projects, such as wind power generation and photovoltaic power generation. To date, Xuwen has 23 new energy projects with a total installed capacity of about 2,148,500 kilowatts and a total investment of about 32.4 billion yuan ($4.58 billion).
