Overview:

The State of Mexico, located in central Mexico on the eastern part of the Anahuac Plateau, sits at an average altitude of 2,683 meters. Spanning 22,499 square kilometers with a population of 14.5 million, it has Toluca as its capital. Known as one of Mexico's leading manufacturing hubs, the state's major exports include motor vehicles, machinery, electronic materials, plastics, clothing and organic chemicals. Recent years have seen substantial foreign investment, spurring rapid economic growth. The State of Mexico hosts around 250 of the nation's top 500 companies, contributing approximately 10.6 percent to the national economy.

Relations with Guangdong:

Since establishing their partnership, Guangdong and the State of Mexico have fostered exchanges in trade, agriculture, legislation and culture. In 2016, Hu Chunhua, then a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, led a delegation to the State of Mexico, where they signed a work plan to advance practical cooperation. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the two regions collaborated closely, sharing experiences in anti-pandemic response. In 2022, landmark buildings in both regions were lit up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico and 20 years of their partnership.
