Overview:
British Columbia, Canada's third-largest province, is situated at the country's westernmost edge, bordering the Pacific Ocean, which makes it the Canadian province closest to China. Spanning an area of 944,000 square kilometers, it is home to approximately 5.21 million people. British Columbia is renowned for its technological prowess and abundant cultural and natural resources, with Vancouver being its best-known city. The capital of the province is Victoria, located on Vancouver Island. The province's extensive and sophisticated infrastructure for sea, land and air transportation, as well as communication, has made it into one of North America's most competitive areas. Beyond its traditional strengths in forestry and mining, British Columbia has seen significant growth in various sectors in recent years, including life sciences, hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, renewable energy, software development, gaming and film production, eco-tourism, and international financial services.
