Overview:
Located in southeastern Germany, Bavaria spans 70,550 square kilometers, making it Germany's largest federal state and accounting for 19.8 percent of the country's total area. It borders the Czech Republic to the east and Austria to the south. Bavaria comprises seven administrative regions, 25 cities and 71 rural districts, with its state government based in Munich. Bavaria is known as a bastion of conservative politics. Once a primarily agricultural region, Bavaria has since been transformed into a technology hub.
Relations with Guangdong:
Since establishing ties, Guangdong and Bavaria have engaged in extensive and fruitful cooperation across various fields, including economy, culture, education and training, technology, sports and cultural exchanges, based on principles of equality, mutual benefit and friendly cooperation. In 2019, to mark the 15th anniversary of their friendship, the two regions signed an agreement to deepen their sister province/state mechanism. After the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic in 2020, both regions proactively cooperated in public health efforts, donating medical supplies to one another. In 2021, the Bavarian government hosted the China–Germany (Bavaria) Economic and Trade Dialogue, holding online exchanges with leaders from China's Ministry of Commerce and the provinces of Guangdong and Shandong.
