Time of establishment of friendly relations: October 2009  

Overview:

Cebu is located in the central Philippines, covering an area of 5,088 square kilometers, with its capital city also called Cebu. The province has a population of 3.7 million, with Cebuano as the main language, while Filipino is also widely spoken. The primary industries include agriculture, fishing, industry and tourism.  

Relations with Guangdong:

Since establishing ties, Cebu Province has sent delegations to Guangdong multiple times to participate in cultural exchange events like the Guangdong International Tourism and Cultural Festival. In May 2020, to jointly fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and uphold the spirit of friendship and mutual assistance, Guangdong donated a batch of medical supplies to Cebu. In May 2022, Wang Weizhong, governor of Guangdong, sent a congratulatory letter to Gwendolyn Garcia, governor of Cebu Province, upon her re-election.
