Overview:

Chuuk State is located in the western part of the Caroline Islands, situated between Yap State and Pohnpei State. It is approximately 705 kilometers east of Pohnpei and 1,028 kilometers northwest of Guam, United States. In addition to the main island of Weno (formly Moen), the state comprises six larger outer islands and 98 smaller islands, covering a total land area of about 127.5 square kilometers. The population is approximately 62,000, nearly half of the national total, with most residents living on the main island, making it the most populous state in the Federated States of Micronesia. The state capital is Weno city, located on the eastern part of the island.

Relations with Guangdong:

Guangdong province has engaged in exchanges and cooperation with Chuuk State primarily in the fields of fisheries and tourism. Johnson Elimo, former governor of Chuuk has led delegations to Guangdong four times to participate in various exhibitions, including the 2023 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo, Guangdong Exchange Cooperation Week, and the Guangdong Tourism and Culture Festival.
