Time of establishment of friendly relations: November 2012

Overview: 

Khabarovsk Krai is situated in the southeastern part of Russia's Far Eastern Federal District, bordering China's Heilongjiang province to the south and southeast. It covers an area of 788,000 square kilometers with a population of 1.328 million, and a population density of 1.7 people per square kilometer. The capital city, Khabarovsk, is home to the office of the President's Plenipotentiary Representative for the Far Eastern Federal District. This region is recognized as one of the most economically developed areas in the Russian Far East.

Relations with Guangdong:

Since the establishment of friendly relations between Khabarovsk Krai and Guangdong province, both parties have engaged in fruitful exchanges and cooperation in fields such as economy, trade, culture and tourism. In April 2022, the China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development's Local Cooperation Council held a video conference, at which Zhang Xin, vice-governor of Guangdong, participated and had discussions with the deputy chairman of the Khabarovsk Krai government. The pair spoke about leveraging regional geographical advantages and promoting the integration and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Far East Leapfrogging Development Zone through technological innovation.
