Overview:

Gävleborg, a county situated in central Sweden, spans 18,191 square kilometers. The county enjoys excellent connectivity, with its capital, Gävle, just an hour's drive from Stockholm Arlanda International Airport. It is also home to Sweden's third-largest container port. Gävleborg has a well-developed commercial infrastructure and high productivity, hosting internationally leading companies in the forestry and telecommunications industries, such as Sandvik and Ericsson.

Relations with Guangdong:

Since establishing friendly relations with Gävleborg county, Guangdong province has explored opportunities for cooperation, particularly in areas such as multi-level exchanges and geospatial information. In 2012, Guangdong honored Barbro Holmberg, the then-governor of Gävleborg, with the "Guangdong International Friendship Contribution Award".
