China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Liu Chenzi meets with Kuwaiti consul general in Guangzhou

Liu Chenzi, director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Abdullah Al-Turki, consul general of Kuwait in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on September 20.

Liu noted that China and Kuwait share a longstanding friendship, with the ancient Silk Road serving as a historical bond between the two nations, and Kuwait is the first Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with China and the first Middle Eastern country to sign a cooperation agreement with China under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Over the 53 years of friendship relations, especially in the six years since the establishment of a strategic partnership, China-Kuwait relations have seen significant development with fruitful cooperation across various sectors, Liu said.

Liu said Guangdong is comprehensively implementing the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, accelerating the construction of a high-standard socialist market economy system, enhancing mechanisms for high-level opening-up, and advancing reforms in education, science and technology, and talent systems.

The Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong looks forward to close communication and cooperation with the Consulate General of Kuwait in Guangzhou to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both nations, and to deepen practical cooperation between Guangdong and Kuwait in energy, technology, culture, and high-level exchanges, Liu added.

Al-Turki emphasized that Guangdong, as one of the most economically developed provinces in China, is highly valued by Kuwait as a cooperation partner. In light of the frequent high-level exchanges between the two countries, the Consulate General of Kuwait is eager to promote more Kuwaiti businesses to invest and operate in China, while also seeking to attract more Guangdong enterprises to invest in Kuwait. He expressed the desire to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in high-level exchanges, renewable energy, new energy vehicles, infrastructure projects, and cultural tourism.
