Liu Chenzi, director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with George Collins Onwuekwe, consul general of Nigeria in Guangzhou, on September 19.
Liu noted that the relationship between China and Nigeria has deep historical roots, with their friendship growing stronger over time. During the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, presidents of the two countries jointly announced the elevation of China-Nigeria relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, setting a clear direction for Guangdong to deepen practical cooperation with Nigeria across various sectors.
Liu said that the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office looks forward to working closely with the Consulate General of Nigeria in Guangzhou to continuously advance exchanges and cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, new energy, culture, and technology.
Onwuekwe said that as a populous and resource-rich country in Africa with significant market potential, Nigeria looks forward to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with Guangdong in areas such as rural development, green energy, and new energy vehicles.
Onwuekwe added that he hopes to encourage more Guangdong enterprises to invest in Nigeria, benefiting the people of both regions.
