The manual, accessible both online and offline, covers a wide range of aspects including entry and exit customs clearance, public transportation, network communication, consumer payment, talent policies, entrepreneurial support, community life guidance, international school information, foreign-related law services, cross-border medical services, scenic spots, and cultural venues. It aims to assist foreigners in addressing any potential challenges they may encounter.

The freshman welcome event, hosted by Nanshan District Foreign Affairs Bureau, Taoyuan Sub-district, and Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, is designed to welcome newly arrived international students and facilitate their adaptation to life in Shenzhen.

Prior to the event's kickoff, an engaging icebreaker game featuring Nanshan landmark stickers was organized. Following that, Li Zhaozhi from Taoyuan Sub-district, along with Ouyang Zhongkun from Tsinghua Office of Global Affairs, delivered welcome speeches.

"I have participated in many activities organized by Taoyuan Service Center for Expats and Nanshan International Cultural Exchange & Service Center (NSIC), like making Zongzi. This is my first time hosting. I happened to have an opportunity to chat with some of them. These new students are so warm. I'm happy that there are freshmen coming to Shenzhen," said Fedor, the event's host and a member of the international volunteer team, who has studied in Shenzhen for a year.

After the ceremony, foreign students took a sightseeing bus, which took them past landmarks in Nanshan such as Shenzhen Bay Science and Technology Ecological Park, Tencent, China Resources Tower, Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, the MixC, Shenzhen Bay Park, and the Dasha River Ecological Corridor. Along the way, international volunteers provided introductions in both Chinese and English, helping the newcomers gain a deeper understanding of Shenzhen.

The day concluded with a cruise tour. They got a close view of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the world's longest cross-sea bridge. "The experience is great. I'm very excited when we pass through the bridge. I communicate with students from all over the world here. We talk about Shenzhen's economy, the development of various places, and the global changes. These exchanges are very rewarding for me," said Alexander, a student from Moscow, Russia.

"I entered Shenzhen from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint at night, and the Spring Bamboo (China Resources Tower) under the light was stunning. I liked the architecture. I really like the balance between nature and the modern development of Nanshan. From the urban areas, we can find green spaces and even mountains," said Yanakorn, a student from Thailand.

In addition to the welcome event, Taoyuan Sub-district will also organize a variety of cultural exchange activities such as Chinese language classes, and international internship and employment job fairs, to support the high-quality development of Nanshan.
