Overview:
Aichi prefecture is located in central Japan, with its southern coast facing the Pacific Ocean. It has a coastline of 581 kilometers, and an area of 5,165 square kilometers. The capital of the prefecture is Nagoya city. Aichi's GDP ranks third in Japan, following Tokyo and Osaka. It is a key manufacturing hub in Japan, with a strong industrial base that includes both long-established industries such as textiles and ceramics and cutting-edge sectors like automotive, machine tools, precision ceramics, and aerospace. Major products include machinery, petrochemicals, precision ceramics, and textiles. Aichi prefecture leads Japan in industrial output, with famous companies such as Toyota, Toyota Industries, Denso, and Aisin headquartered there. Key agricultural products include vegetables, flowers, rice, and fruits. The prefecture is also home to renowned cultural institutions such as the Museum of Ceramic Art and the Tokugawa Art Museum.
Relations with Guangdong:
Since establishing friendly relations, Guangdong province and Aichi prefecture have engaged in fruitful exchanges and cooperation in areas such as trade, technology, and youth exchange. Several Aichi-based companies, including well-known firms like Toyota and Toray, have invested and set up factories in Guangdong. In April 2019, Ma Xingrui, then governor of Guangdong province, visited Aichi prefecture, where he met with Hideaki Omura, the governor of Aichi. In March 2020, Guangdong donated a batch of anti-pandemic supplies to Aichi prefecture, Governor Ma and Governor Omura exchanged letters of sympathy and encouragement. And in January 2022, Governor Hideaki Omura sent a congratulatory letter to Wang Weizhong, the governor of Guangdong province.
