Heyuan

Heyuan is a prefecture-level city located in the northeast of Guangdong province, covering an area of 15,700 square kilometers. 

Established as Longchuan county during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), Heyuan boasts a history of over 2,200 years. The city is one of the birthplaces of Lingnan culture and one of the earliest areas developed by the Hakka people in Lingnan.

Heyuan is endowed with abundant water resources and hosts the two largest hydropower stations in Guangdong — Xinfengjiang Station and Fengshuba Station. The city also possesses diverse and high-quality mineral resources, making it a valuable repository in the east of Guangdong, with over 40 kinds of minerals surveyed in the city.

The city is renowned for its numerous hot spring resorts and features one national-level tourism resort, the Bavarian Manor, along with a total of 39 open tourist attractions. By virtue of numerous valuable dinosaur fossils unearthed in its vicinity, it has recently been crowned with the title of the "Hometown of the Dinosaur in China".

In Heyuan, plants such as Cathaya and Chinese yew are listed under national first-class protection and animals such as the golden cat and pangolin are listed under national second-class protection.

The city has earned several prestigious titles, reflecting its status as a well-developed and environmentally conscious city. It is recognized as a National Sanitary City, National Garden City, Hometown of the Dinosaur in China, and one of the Top 10 Green Economy Cities in China, among other accolades.
