Chaozhou

Chaozhou is located in the southern part of China. As a coastal port city in eastern Guangdong province, Chaozhou shares borders with Zhao'an and Pinghe counties of Fujian province to the east, Jieyang's Jiedong district to the west, Fengshun and Dapu counties of Meizhou to the north, and the South China Sea to the south. In 2023, Chaozhou covered a land area of 3,160 square kilometers and a sea area of 533 square kilometers.

Chaozhou experiences a subtropical marine monsoon climate, characterized by mild temperatures, abundant rainfall, and evergreen vegetation throughout the year, making it suitable for farming in all seasons.

The city boasts abundant natural resources. By 2023, 26 types of minerals had been discovered, with 87 mineral deposits identified. Chaozhou is also rich in plant resources, featuring diverse vegetation types such as South Asian subtropical monsoon evergreen broadleaf forests, South Asian subtropical evergreen needle-broadleaf mixed forests, artificial orchards, and bamboo forests.

The city is home to many unique and distinctive features of Chaozhou culture, such as accents, cuisine, opera, music and Chaozhou kung fu tea. Craft arts, such as embroidery, wood engravings and pottery from Chaozhou are known across the globe.

Chaozhou embroidery derives from the Yue embroidery, one of the four famous schools of Chinese embroideries. Due to the exquisite craftsmanship, the wedding gowns made in Chaozhou are highly sought after around the world, with exports travelling to more than 20 countries and regions, making it one of the biggest wedding gown manufacturers at home and abroad.
