Wang Weizhong, governor of Guangdong province, met with a delegation from Minsk Oblast in Belarus, led by its governor Aleksandr Turchin, in Guangzhou on July 30.
Wang welcomed Turchin's visit to Guangdong and provided an overview of the province's economic and social development. He noted that the friendship between Guangdong and Minsk Oblast has deep roots, with the two regions establishing a sister-province relationship in 2012. Since then, cooperation across various fields has yielded fruitful results, he said.
Guangdong is now focused on promoting reform, openness, and striving to be a leader in furthering reform and modernization, Wang added, which presents new opportunities for deepening exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Minsk.
Wang said Guangdong is willing to work with Minsk to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further strengthening practical cooperation in trade, investment, modern agriculture and cultural tourism, thus making greater local contributions to the development of the China-Belarus friendship.
Turchin expressed gratitude for Guangdong's warm hospitality and congratulated the province on its impressive achievements in economic and social development. He emphasized that Minsk highly values its friendly relations with Guangdong and hopes to further strengthen cooperation in trade, agriculture, and culture and tourism. He said more Guangdong enterprises were welcome to invest in Minsk Oblast, with the aim of achieving even greater success in bilateral cooperation.
