Guangzhou, San Francisco mayors meet for further friendly exchanges

Guangzhou Mayor Sun Zhiyang met with San Francisco Mayor London Breed via video, and jointly signed a memorandum of understanding on friendly exchanges between the two cities on July 23.

According to the memorandum, Guangzhou and San Francisco are expected to establish friendship-city ties.

The two cities were in the core of their respective bay areas and enjoyed close ties, with broad prospects for cooperation and huge potential, said Sun.

He hopes to take this memorandum signing as an opportunity to jointly strengthen cooperation between the two bay areas and make greater contributions to turning the "San Francisco Vision" into live action.

London Breed said that San Francisco and Guangzhou had close cultural exchanges and frequent economic and trade cooperation.

"The signing of this memorandum is of great significance," Breed stressed, "and it will effectively promote cooperation between the two cities in trade, investment, innovation, technology, culture, and other fields, and promote the development of bilateral relations through sub-national interactions."

As of today, Guangzhou has established friendship-city ties with 107 cities (provinces) in 68 countries.
