Liu Chenzi meets with Iraq's consul general in Guangzhou

Liu Chenzi, director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Mashkour Mohsen Al-Husouna, the first consul general of Iraq in Guangzhou, on April 26.

Liu congratulated Al-Husouna on his appointment as Iraq's first consul general in Guangzhou and introduced to him the economic and social development of Guangdong. She noted the friendship between China and Iraq, highlighting that Iraq was one of the first Arab nations to establish diplomatic relations with China.

Liu said that Guangdong is advancing high-quality development, focusing on industrial and technological innovation and the development of new quality productive forces, with the aim of building a globally influential center for industrial and technological innovation.

She emphasized the vast potential for cooperation between Guangdong and Iraq, adding that the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office is willing to work closely with the Consulate General of Iraq to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries. She also looked forward to deepening practical cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, culture, education, and tourism.

Al-Husouna thanked the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office for its support and assistance since the establishment of the Iraqi Consulate General in Guangzhou. He noted Iraq's rapid economic development in recent years, with many Chinese enterprises investing and operating in Iraq. He expressed his hope to further promote friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between Guangdong and Iraq during his tenure, taking relations to new heights.
