Huang Kunming, Party Chief of Guangdong, met the delegation led by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare of the Solomon Islands in Guangzhou on July 14.

Huang welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Guangdong government, and introduced the economic and social development of the province, as well as its exchanges with the Solomon Islands.
Huang said, "The Prime Minister's second visit to Guangdong fully reflects the importance that the Solomon Islands attaches to strengthening bilateral exchanges and cooperation. In recent years, exchanges between Guangdong and the Solomon Islands have become increasingly frequent, and new progress and achievements have been made in many fields."
Huang indicated that under the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership of mutual respect and common development in the new era, Guangdong would take the Belt and Road Initiative as an important opportunity to drive the exchanges and cooperation of the two places.
Huang noted, "We will strengthen economic, trade and industrial cooperation with the Solomon Islands, and focus on agriculture, forestry and fishery development. By combining Guangdong's advantages in technology and market with the Solomon Islands' strength in resources, we will promote complementary advantages and win-win cooperation, further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in disaster prevention and mitigation, healthcare, education and training, culture, and tourism."
"We will enhance mutual understanding, cultivate friendship between the two peoples, and contribute to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries," said Huang.
Sogavare said that during this visit to Guangdong, he fully felt the enthusiasm of the Guangdong people and was impressed that Guangdong has made encouraging new progress and results in various fields. He was both happy and felt deep admiration.
"The Solomon Islands and Guangdong have great potential for cooperation, and I hope that through this visit, we will further learn from Guangdong's experience in developing the economy and improving people's livelihood, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two places," said Sogavare.
Sogavare added, "To better benefit the people of the two places, we will focus on the needs of the two sides, strengthen communication, and continue to explore cooperation in infrastructure construction, agriculture and fishery, tourism, climate change, and disaster prevention and mitigation."
Chinese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands Li Ming, Wang Ruijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Committee, and Zhang Xin, Vice Governor of Guangdong, also participated in this meeting.
