Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong led a delegation to visit Singapore from June 24 to 27. Wang met with Singaporean government officers and attended economic and trade activities during his visit, aiming to deepen the cooperation between the province of Guangdong and Singapore.

At the meeting with Lawrence Wong, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister, Wang highlighted that China and Singapore upgraded the relationship to an "All Round High-Quality Future Oriented Partnership" during the Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's official visit to China in March.

Wang hopes Guangdong and Singapore could deepen cooperation in such fields as investment and trade, advanced manufacturing, smart city and the digital economy.

Lawrence Wong said that Singapore and Guangdong have a long history of exchanges and achieved fruitful outcomes. Singapore will actively participate in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and further the friendly relationship.

Being an essential platform for practical cooperation, the 13th Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council (CGCC) was held in Singapore on June 26, during which the two sides had in-depth exchanges on the digital economy and green economy. The Guangdong and Singaporean governments signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation.

In addition, Guangdong and Singaporean enterprises inked 21 cooperative agreements and MoUs in such fields as investment and trade, advanced manufacturing, the digital economy, financial services, intellectual property rights, and personnel training.

Being the co-chair of the Council, Wang invited Singaporean enterprises and talents to the GBA, in order to participate in the development of Zhuhai's Hengqin, Shenzhen's Qianhai and Guangzhou's Nansha: three major platforms for reform and opening up in the Area.

Ong Ye Kung, co-chair of CGCC and Singapore's Minister for Health, hopes to keep strengthening cooperation with Guangdong in investment, trade, science and technology, finance, and biomedicine through the CGCC.

The China (Guangdong)-Singapore Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was held in Singapore on June 26, during which 32 cooperative projects with an investment of about 26 billion RMB were signed. These projects cover a wide range of areas, including energy and chemistry, supply chain, new materials, finance, technology and cultural tourism.

In addition, Wang met with the head of Temasek Holdings as well as representatives of Guangdong-invested Enterprises in Singapore. He toured the airport, port, industrial area, HDB flats andthe Huawei Singapore Research Institute, in order to gain insight into industrial upgrading, technological innovation, urban development and social governance.
