The Tourism Area of Sun Yat-sen's Hometown is located in Cuiheng village in Zhongshan city, Guangdong province, spanning a total area of 3.15 square kilometers. The tourism area includes five main parts: Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Zhongshan Town, the Litoujian Mountain, the Memorial Park of the 1911 Revolution, and Cuiheng Village. The National Tourism Administration named it a 5A scenic spot on Nov 4, 2016.
Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall includes exhibitions in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The museum is free and open to the public all year round, with opening hours from 9:00 to 17:00 every day. Zhongshan Town is a theme park for sightseeing, patriotic education, and film and TV shooting. It covers the revolutionary activities of Sun Yat-sen both at home and abroad. As a top ten popular venue for filming, Zhongshan Town features the distinctive culture of South China. Architectural styles from both the East and West can be found here, including street-side stores and other local scenes reminiscent of old Guangzhou, urban American streetscapes, classic British buildings and China’s largest Japanese-style film sets.
Litoujian Mountain is close to the village, east of the Pearl River estuary. Cuiheng village is surrounded by mountains in three directions and facing water in the other. The Memorial Park of the 1911 Revolution is an ecological park themed around Sun Yat-sen, the revolution of 1911 and the centenary of the 1911 Revolution, remembering him and other early revolutionaries who pledged to fight for democratic rights. Its design is based on the blueprint of the Butchart Garden, incorporating features of the UK's Royal Park and the Japanese royal family's courtyard, as well as South Chinese-style structures.
