The 3rd World Conference of Sinologists is underway in Dunhuang, Gansu province, from June 2 to 4, bringing together sinologists from around the globe to discuss civilizations.

Hosted by the Chinese Association for International Understanding, this high-level international conference is a key initiative under the Global Civilization Initiative, providing a platform for dialogue among sinologists and promoting cross-cultural exchanges.

Sinology, the study and introduction of Chinese culture by foreign scholars, plays a crucial role in enhancing China's image abroad. Sinologists, focusing on Chinese culture and society, are vital in disseminating Chinese civilization worldwide.

The inaugural World Conference of Sinologists was held in Beijing on July 3, 2023. Participants from over 60 countries engaged in discussions on implementing the Global Civilization Initiative to forge a new blueprint for modernization. The second conference followed in October 2024 in Nanping, Fujian province.

This year, the conference comes to Dunhuang, a historical crossroads of Eastern and Western civilizations along the Silk Road. The Mogao Caves' murals and the Library Cave's texts stand as testaments to millennia of cultural exchange, offering unparalleled resources for sinological research.

The conference in Dunhuang offers sinologists a dialogue that transcends time, allowing them to explore the modern echoes of ancient civilizations.
