Gansu villages celebrate upcoming Lantern Festival with folk performances

Rural areas across Gansu province have been hosting a series of traditional folk performances in recent days, as the Loess Plateau region is filled with festive spirit ahead of the upcoming Lantern Festival.
On Feb 27, the shehuo folk performance team from Hongsi village in Xiaokangying township, Yuzhong county, Lanzhou, toured neighboring villages with lively performances, as villagers gathered at field edges to watch and cheer. The same day, the Liujiapo yangko folk dance team staged a lantern show in Xinping village, Chankou town, Anding district, Dingxi, showcasing distinctive local cultural flavors.
Residents of neighboring villages visit each other and showcase their unique talents, with entire communities participating in the lively celebrations accompanied by the thunderous sound of drums and gongs. These authentic folk performances highlight the exuberance and vibrant cultural life of Gansu's rural communities.
