At the recently held 2025 Zhejiang Agricultural Fair in Hangzhou, the Gansu exhibition area attracted many consumers with its distinctive agricultural products. This cross-regional collaboration, spanning thousands of miles, is helping Gansu's "Ganwei" products gain a foothold in the Yangtze River Delta market.
Gansu's specialty products thrive in the region's dry, high-altitude environment. The crisp and juicy "ice cream radishes" from Wuwei are nourished by Qilian Mountain snowmelt and selenium-rich soil. Yak products from Gannan, further improved through selective breeding and green certification, are now entering the high-end market.
As a key national base for specialty farm products, Gansu excels in cultivating medicinal herbs and highland vegetables, while also being a top producer of potatoes and apples — products that align with the Yangtze River Delta's rising demand for healthy, unique foods.
To better align with market demands, Gansu's enterprises have proactively adjusted their product structures. For example, apricots from Zhangye are now processed into a range of products such as health teas. The shift from raw agricultural products to ready-to-eat delicacies and snack foods reflects a market-driven upgrade in the region's agricultural sector.
Brand leadership has successfully increased local farmers' incomes. Geographical indication products, such as Qingyang apples, command premium prices and secure orders thanks to their superior quality. Dongxiang tribute lamb, introduced through on-site tastings, attracted numerous potential clients and secured partnerships with supply chain companies.
With their pure, highland characteristics, "Ganwei" products are steadily gaining traction in the eastern consumer market, highlighting the vast potential of regional agricultural complementarity in China.
