Enchanting concert held on Nile River showcases Fujian's charm

A romantic concert on the banks of Egypt's Nile River, which focused on Fujian in the poems of China's Song Dynasty (960-1279), mesmerized audiences on local time Dec 10.

The concert was held as part of the China-Egypt year of partnership.

The Song Dynasty, renowned for its classical poetry, marked a golden age in Fujian's cultural history.

The concert, tailored for Chinese language enthusiasts in Egypt, featured a captivating fusion of song, dance, traditional music and martial arts, symbolizing the enduring friendship between China and Egypt.

Fujian artists displayed their skills with performances of traditional Fujian folk instruments, among other things, unveiling the region's unique charms.

The ensemble of folk instruments, called Fujian in Song Poems, transported the audience back in time to the Song Dynasty, immersing them in Fujian's rich heritage and picturesque landscapes.

Songs such as Songs by the Nile and The Lights of China were harmonized as a tribute to Sino-Egyptian friendship, fostering closer ties between the two regions.

Outside the venue, an interactive area highlighted Fujian's intangible cultural heritage. Guests engaged in activities like Zhangpu paper cutting, traditional Fujian incense burning and puppetry.

They also had the chance to savor six Fujian teas inscribed on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list, like Dahongpao tea, infused with the essence of Fujian's cultural and tourism allure.

Attendees, enchanted by the allure of the Fujian performances, expressed admiration at the event's close. They said the experience had really deepened their appreciation of Fujian and ignited a desire to explore the region's diverse landscapes.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership, also celebrated as the the China-Egypt year of partnership.

Egypt, one of the world's four ancient civilizations, was the first Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with China.
