The first Tremella Industry Development Conference, with the tagline "Advance the Philosophy of Holistic Nutrition, Enhance Health and Well-being", took place on Dec 5 in Gutian county, known as China's "capital of edible fungi", in Ningde, East China's Fujian province.

The conference aimed to propel the high-quality development of the edible fungi industry represented by Gutian tremella, foster deeper exchanges and collaborations within the green edible fungi sector, and position the region as the world's "capital of edible fungi".

During the event, Gutian was honored with the "Birthplace for Bag Cultivation Tremella Fuciformis" certificate by the International Society of Mushroom Science. Activities also included the signing ceremony for the quality standard research of medicinal tremellas, the plate awarding ceremony of the International Cooperation Lab for Advancing Rural Vitalization in China, and more.

Gutian boasts a rich history of edible fungi cultivation and technological expertise. In recent years, under the guidance of an "all-encompassing approach" to food, the county has elevated the edible fungi industry to a cornerstone of the local economy. This has led to the development of the distinctive Gutian model of "county-level industrialization" in edible fungi production, driving prosperity and county-wide development in the rural vitalization process.

In 2023, Gutian produced 920,000 metric tons of fresh edible fungi, generating a total industry value chain exceeding 25.5 billion yuan ($3.51 billion). Tremella production alone reached 396,000 tons, representing over 90 percent of the national output.

Gutian is now actively implementing a comprehensive project that includes a unified plan, a blue book, a research institution, and a digital brain. The county is expediting the establishment of micro-parks, e-commerce parks, logistics parks, and food processing parks, resulting in a significant boost to Gutian tremella's reputation and influence.
