FedEx increases frequency of intl cargo flights connecting Xiamen to US
Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world's largest express transportation companies, announced that the frequency of its international cargo flights from Xiamen to the United States increased, along with the inauguration of its Xiamen international gateway facility on Nov 21. FedEx is the only international express company operating flights from Xiamen.
The flight, now operating five times a week, reduces transit times for Fujian's outbound parcels and freight shipments to North America by one to two days. This enhancement strengthens the FedEx logistics network in Fujian, providing Chinese customers with more efficient, flexible, and intelligent logistics services and solutions.
FedEx has officially established its Xiamen gateway at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport in collaboration with Iport Group. The facility spans over 3,800 square meters and is equipped with fully automated sorting lines that handle cross-border e-commerce cargo and express parcels, significantly improving operational efficiency.
The center features an integrated express handling system with four major functions: security checks, inspection, sorting, and collection and transportation. This setup allows FedEx's outbound shipments to complete customs clearance within the center and sorting at the FedEx international gateway facility, streamlining operations and increasing customs clearance efficiency.
Robert Chu, vice president of FedEx China, said, "The flight expansion will expand our capacity and extend our service network to more second- and third-tier cities in China. And our operations at the Xiamen gateway and Airport Cargo Terminal International Express Center will allow us to expedite customs clearance further and empower local businesses to access global export opportunities, helping increase Xiamen's foreign trade."
