This year, the island is also hosting events such as stargazing by the sea, car racing, kite flying, surfing, and baseball, so visitors can enjoy its leisurely lifestyle, according to Lin Yan, general manager of Pingtan's culture and tourism development group.
Yachting, firework displays and local cuisine are also available.
Located on the eastern coast, Pingtan is the fifth-largest island in China, with plentiful marine resources. Local authorities are working to turn it into a famous tourist destination.
