A train carrying 55 TEUs of premium specialty products recently departed from Fuzhou's Jiangyin Port Station, bound for Russia's Elektrougli. On July 15, 2022, Fuzhou officially launched its first China-Europe freight train route. Over the past two years, 663 million yuan ($91.2 million) in goods have been exported on these expresses, further establishing Fuzhou Port as a key land link between Europe and Asia.

According to officials from Rongcheng Customs, a subsidiary of Fuzhou Customs, since its first run, the China-Europe Railway Express (Fuzhou) has been operating smoothly with one to two trips per month. The variety of goods transported has expanded from infant diapers to include daily necessities, auto parts, CNC machine tools, and more. Each trip carries 55 TEUs, operating at full capacity.

The China-Europe Railway Express (Fuzhou) offers shorter transit times compared to traditional sea freight, with minimal susceptibility to natural disruptions, making it more stable and efficient. In addition to goods sourced locally in Fujian, it has attracted cargo from neighboring provinces such as Zhejiang and Guangdong, establishing a direct land-based international freight route to Europe for coastal export businesses in Fujian.

To ensure the regular operation of the express, Rongcheng Customs has focused on meeting the needs of businesses. It has established a green channel for cold chain products, enhancing customs efficiency for the export of fresh products via the Fuzhou China-Europe Train. It continues to optimize train customs clearance efficiency, introducing a fast-track railway customs clearance model for both inbound and outbound traffic, reducing the overall operation time of the train by one to two days.
