The first resident committee of the Taiwan compatriots' apartment in Fujian province was established at the Guixi community in the provincial capital, Fuzhou, in late December.
The committee has eight members, all from Taiwan, and will manage the apartment. Their duties include protecting residents' rights and helping them adapt to the community. Together with the local community and property management company, they will work to build a harmonious neighborhood and boost exchanges between people from both straits.
A total of 379 Taiwan people from 237 families have moved into the community. The local government aims to develop it into a demonstration community for cross-Strait integration.
