Fuzhou, capital city of East China's Fujian province, has achieved fruitful progress in the past year in various aspects, involving urban construction, cultural protection, scientific and technological improvement, and people's livelihoods.

In 2021, Fuzhou carried out 185 key projects to boost its marine economy, with a total investment of 55.47 billion yuan ($8.72 billion). This year, Fuzhou will carry out the first batch of 171 key projects to keep boosting its marine economy.

Fuzhou has also been bolstering its efforts to establish cultural landmarks since March, 2021, such as promoting the world heritage item application of the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, and repairing a number of cultural relics and historical buildings.

For example, to exhibit Fujian culture, the city has begun and accelerated the repair of 153 buildings and 28 heritage sites in Shangxiahang, which is home to an abundance of ancient architecture.

The downtown area of Fuzhou boasts 58 mountains and 156 inland rivers and the city offers the public a large amount of green areas by building 15 ecological parks by the mountains and lakes, and 379 pocket parks along the inland waterways.

Fuzhou is also on its way to developing into a modern international city. It has carried out 921 projects to improve the city's quality since 2021.

Selected as a pilot city for science and innovation, Fuzhou will continue to take innovation as its top driving force of development and promote the construction of sci-tech platforms and incubators this year.
